Kevin Duane Ferrell Jr best known as Yogi Ferrell was born on 9th May 1993, in Stinesville, Indiana, the United States of America.

He won a second 2A IHSAA State Championship as a senior, collecting 12 assists, 17 points, and nine rebounds. During his final year, he averaged 18.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game.

He was chosen to the McDonald’s All-American Game in 2012 when he played 22 minutes and had eight assists and zero turnovers.

He was the team’s lone player with more than four assists. Moreover, he finished second in Indiana Mr. Basketball to Gary Harris.

College career

After high school, Yogi chose Indiana University over Butler, Florida, Virginia, and Wake Forest for college basketball. His team was defeated by the Big Ten champions.

In 28.1 minutes per game, he averaged 7.6 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. In his second year, he averaged 17.3 points and 3.9 assists.

Coaches and members of the media were named to the All-Big Nine Second Team. When he came to Indiana, he was one of five Hoosiers with 1,000 career points, 400 career assists, and 300 career rebounds.

When he won his 546th career assist while competing against Illinois’ Fighting Illini, he set the record high, breaking the all-time assists record at Indiana University.

He was one of ten contenders for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award and was named to the Naismith Trophy midseason shortlist of 35 players.

Professional career

Brooklyn Nets and Long Island Nets (2016–2017)

On January 28, 2017, Yogi signed a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Later, he led his club to career-high point totals in wins over the San Antonio Spurs,

Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Portland Trail Blazers. He was the third undrafted rookie in NBA history to score 30 points in his first 15 games, after only Connie Hawkins and Anthony Morrow.

After that, he signed a multi-year contract with Dallas. For games played in February, he was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month. In addition, Yogi was also named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Sacramento Kings (2018-2020)

He signed a two-year, $3,000,000 contract with the Sacramento Kings for the 2018-19 season, which was then extended to $3,150,000 for the 2019-20 season.

The Network put him in the top 16 for accomplishments between 2010 and 2019, and he was surprised by the honor.

He signed a 10-day deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 11, 2021, followed by another with the Los Angeles Clippers on April 19. He also played guard for the Salt Lake City Stars that year.

Cleveland Cavaliers (2021)

He signed a contract with the Utah Jazz on December 18, 2020, but was later waived the next day. He signed a 10-day deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 11, 2021

Salt Lake City Stars, Los Ageles Clippers, and Panathinaikos (2021)

He signed a deal with the Salt Lake City Stars and appeared in 14 games. On 19th April 2021, he signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, and 10 days later,

he signed a multi-year contract. Moreover, he signed with European powerhouse Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and the EuroLeague until the end of the 2021-22 season.
