Later, after returning to the USA she worked for hotels including SLS Hotel Beverly Hills as a pastry chef and as a patisserie at The Bazaar by José Andrés. While she was working at The Bazaar, she experimented with a variety of cooking techniques ranging from traditional to very modern. Lucas received her first four-star review during her tenure at The Bazaar.

Later she refined her trademark style as the executive pastry chef of Patina, Joachim Splichal’s fabled Michelin-starred restaurant that also received a Los Angeles Times four-star review while she was a pastry chef. She is the only pastry chef in Los Angeles to have ever earned two four-star reviews

Later, in 2013 she became a judge and TV personality after appearing in a cooking competition. She appeared in the show named Bravo’s Eat, Drink, Love. She appeared in another TV series, “Cake Wars” in 2015. It is a series on the Food Network channel. It focuses on the respective lives of five businesswomen in Los Angeles who are all working and making their way in the predominantly male-run food industry.

Furthermore, she was also a permanent adviser on the first season of CNBC’s Restaurant Startup. Her role was consulting with new entrepreneurs who wanted to start their businesses in the food world. She hoped to win an investment from two culinary experts namely Joe Bastianich and Tim Love.
