Tunji Balogun

Tunji Balogun is a Nigerian American executive vice president, record label executive, CEO, and marketing intern. Tunji Balogun was a co-founder of Keep Cool, and as of 2022 is the CEO of Def Jam Recordings.

On the 26th of September 1980, Tunji Balogun was born in the United States of America. As of 2024, he is currently 43 years old and has a birth sign of Libra.

Additionally, he joined RCA in the year 2015 as senior vice president of A&R, and in 2018 he was promoted to executive vice president.

At the time of his promotion, RCA formed a partnership with Balogun, Courtney Stewart, Jon Tanners, and Jared Sherman to form Keep Cool. Normani was the first artist to sign with Keep Cool. Meanwhile, Tunji was the executive vice president of A&R for RCA Records and a co-founder of Keep Cool.

Balogun has signed or helped sign artists such as Brockhampton, Childish Gambino, Goldlink, H.E.R., Khalid, SZA, Bryson Tiller, and Cozz. He was named CEO of Def Jam in August 2021 and took over in January 2022.

On February 6, 2013, he proposed to Tiwa at a restaurant in Lagos during Tiwa’s birthday party. Meanwhile, Tiwa accepted his proposal, and the couple married on November 23, 2013, at Ark in Lekki, Lagos. With the marriage, the couple has two kids whose names are yet unknown. After a few years of marriage, the couple separated, and in 2016, they eventually got divorced.

Controversy

After his divorce from his first wife, he posted a photo on Instagram accusing her and her mother. It was later revealed that he was legally married to another woman and had children with her. He stated that Tiwa is aware of his previous relationship and has no objections to it. During an interview, his wife described him as a bad father, alcoholic, drug addict, and womanizer.

Meanwhile, she accused him of torturing her physically. Following that, he attempted suicide. Tunji was attempting to leap from the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge. Furthermore, he was rescued by his friends and fellow artists Banky W and Peter Okoye.
