However, in 1980, she left the soap.
After appearing in a couple of television series, she made her big-screen debut in the 1981 film “Happy Birthday to Me” which was produced by Columbia Pictures. The next year, she appeared in the prison drama film “The Concrete Jungle” and starred alongside Jill St. John.
And, later, she appeared in the 1983 Canadian comedy-drama film, “The Funny Farm.” Similarly, she appeared as a guest star on “The Littlest Hobo,” “The Love Boat,” “Fame,” and “The Fall Guy” on television.

Bregman returned to daytime television in 1983 as Lauren Fenmore in CBS’s “The Young and the Restless.” She thought her role as Lauren would be short-lived, but after six months, the serial offered her a contract, which she accepted.
She introduced the character to “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1992, and she moved there permanently in 1995. Moreover, she returned to “The Young and the Restless” as a recurring role in 2000.
From April to June 2010, while still playing Lauren, she doubled up on “The Young and the Restless,” playing Sheila Carter’s sister, Sarah. She also starred in the music video for Reba McEntire’s single “I Keep On Loving You” in 2010, alongside her Y&R co-star Christian LeBlanc.
She has appeared in several television films, including “Sex & Mrs. X” (2000), “Low Lifes” (2012), and “A Very Charming Christmas Town” (2020). Moreover, she co-starred with Jonathan Bennett and Eve Mauro in the 2013 thriller “Misogynist.”
