Tina Turner is an American Rock Singer. Tina Turner is also a songwriter, dancer, actor, and author. She is considered the Queen of Rock and Roll and has received 12 Grammy Awards, collaborating with many other popular artists.

Early Life and Education

Tina Turner was born on November 26, 1939, in Brownsville, Tennessee, USA. She is 83 years old and her astrological sign is Sagittarius.

She holds American nationality and her real name is Anna Mae Bullock. Her father’s name is Floyd Richard Bullock and her mother’s name is Zelma Priscilla and her father was an overseer of a group of sharecroppers.

She also has two siblings and their names are Alline Bullock and Evelyn Juanita Currie. She is the youngest among her siblings.

During World War II, Tine Turner along with her two sisters was separated from their parents and had to go and live with her grandparents in Knoxville. However, after the war, they reunited with their family in Knoxville.

She then went on to attend Flagg Grove Elementary School. Likewise, her life became chaotic when their mother ran away because of their abusive father.

She was only 13 years old at that time and her father remarried and abandoned her as well as her sister.  They then went to live with her grandmother and worked as a domestic worker.

Career and Professional Life

Tina Turner was interested in singing from a very young age and she also had a knack for it and she even used to sing in the church choir. She used to visit nightclubs in St. Louis. At Club Manhattan.

It was the time when she met her future husband Ike Turner as well as his band “Kings of Rhythm“. Ike Turner was able to recognize her talent and gave her a chance to record with him as a background singer in the year 1958.

And after a year, she was able to record a dummy vocal for Ike’s song. Likewise, She along with Ike Turner began singing together.

Then in the year 1960 their single “A Fool in Love” was able to reach the second position on the “Hot R&B Sides”. After that, “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine” was able to earn them their first Grammy Award nomination.

The duo team was able to become popular and even went on to sign with “Loma Records”. They were able to give live performances all over the USA and even were able to perform in shows like “Hollywood A-Go-Go”.

Most of their albums and songs were gaining a lot of success and popularity as time went by. Tina Turner then signed with “Liberty Records’ in the year 1970 and came out with two albums along with Ike.

Ike and Turner subsequently ventured into gospel music and released “The Gospel According to Ike & Tina” which became an instant hit.

Her professional life, career, as well as her personal life was very much affected by her husband Ike who was an alcoholic and cocaine addict. Eventually, she stopped performing with him and divorced him.

After her divorce, she began releasing her solo albums. She even began appearing on shows like The Hollywood Squares, Donny and Marie, and many others.

However, there were some albums of hers which were not much liked by her fans and critics. Then after taking some time and associating with other famous personalities, she released her album which became a hit.

After her success in songs and singing, she starred in the movie “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” in the year 1985. Her acting skills were very much appreciated and honored with the “NAACP Image Award” for “Outstanding Actress”.

In the year 1986, she was able to publish her autobiography “I, Tina,” and was able to receive a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame”.
