Early Life

On June 30, 1944, Terrence Funk aka Terry Funk was born in Hammond, Indiana. As of now, he is 79 years old. He was born to his father Dory Funk and his mother Dorothy. His family relocated to Texas, after the end of World War II. Additionally, he also has a brother named Dory Funk Jr. Talking about his education, he attended West Texas State University. From the university, he completed amateur wrestling football.

Professional Life

In 1965, Terry Funk worked in his father Dory Funk, Sr.’s promotion in Amarillo, Texas, and started his career. By the end of the decade, he and his brother rose the ranks and became big-money wrestlers.

Moreover, in 1968, they joined the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). Moving on, he defeated Jack Brisco for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, in 1975. Finally, in the year 1985, he made his World Wrestling Federation (WWF) debut. He made a special appearance against Tully Blanchard at Slamboree 1994.

He also promised to help the fledgling Eastern Championship Wrestling by lending his talent and notoriety to the promotion. Unfortunately, he and Dory Funk lost a Barbed wire match against Public Enemy, on July 16.

IWA Japan held a King of the Death Match tournament in Kawasaki, Japan, on August 20, 2995. Sadly, he lost to Mick Foley in an exploding ring, C4 explosive, barbed wire match, in the final of the tournament.

He started taking independent bookings again, after hi 3 months of retirement. Similarly, he was signed by the WWF and debuted as Chainsaw Charlie. After that, he had a match with Foley on Raw and the New Age Outlaw.

Terry came and threw both in a dumpster and pushed them off of the stage. As Foley resumed his solo career as Mankind in a feud with The Undertaker, he left the WWF.

He again announced his official retirement, but only for a short time. At that time he had his last match with WWF which was a tag team match at Fully Loaded. In addition, he teamed up with Bradshaw to go against Scorpio and Faarooq.

Also, he was supposed to have a mystery partner against Justin Credible and Jack Victory, at ECW November to Remember. Likewise, Jake Robert turned out to be the mystery partner.

In 2000, he wrestled for World Championship Wrestling and won the WCW Hardcore Championship for 3rd time. He also won the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship for the second time. Similarly, he was also the WCW Commissioner at one time.

He became the leader of short-lived Old Age Outlaws that feuded with the New World Order. In September 20006, he claimed to be semi-retired after wrestling in his last match against Jerry “The King” Lawler.

During the Raven and Johnny Webb vs. Khan Kussion and Homeless Jimmy match, he was the special guest referee. There was an announcement by Raw on February 16,  2009, that he and his brother would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2009 by Dusty Rhodes.

Thus, he made an unannounced appearance at a house show for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, on May 23, 2009. He worked as the ringside enforcer for the ROH World Championship, on September 11, 2010, at Ring of Honor’s Glory By Honor IX.
