Dent wrote a series of annual Language Reports for Oxford University Press (OUP) from 2003 to 2007. The first, simply titled The Language Report, was followed by Larpers and Shroomers (2004), Fanboys and Overdogs (2005), The Like, Language Report for Real (2006), and The Language Report: English on the Move 2000-2007 (2007). This publication’s format was revised for 2008 as an A-Z collection of new and resurrected words. Words of the Year was released in October 2008.
Winning Words was published by the same publisher in 2005, and What Made the Crocodile Cry? was published in 2009. 101 English language trivia questions. How to Talk Like a Local, Dent’s book about dialects, was released in March 2010.
