Career and Professional Life
Thatcher came to the limelight as the wife of two-time Grammy Award winner Palmer. Thus, her professional life was never a highlight. However, talking about her ex-husband, Robert Palmer started his musical journey in 1954. Back then he joined his first band The Mandrakes whilst still at Scarborough High School for Boys. A few years later he got into the band The Alan Bown Set which was a breakthrough for his career.
Palmer debuted his solo career in 1974 with the release of the album Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley. With his solo career, Palmer released amazing numbers like Double Fun and Secrets that made it to the Billboard Top 50 and the Top 100.
Later in 1985, Palmer joined guitarist Andy Taylor and bassist John Taylor joined former Chic drummer Tony Thompson to form the Power Station. Their debut album eponymous album reached the Top 20 in the UK and the Top 10 in the US. But soon, Palmer left the band and restarted his solo career. Susan Eileen Thatcher met Palmer backstage at one of his shows in Pittsburgh in late 1978. She was a backstage staff for numerous performances. The two clicked right away and started dating each other. After years of teenage romance, the couple decided to get married. Thatcher was only 19 when she tied knot with Palmer. Within a few years, the couple was blessed with their first child James Palmer born in 1978. They had their second child in 1979 and named her Jane Palmer.
For years the pair lived together but they had many ups and downs. Susan Eileen Thatcher was tired of the frequent disagreements and asked for a divorce. The couple officially separated in 1993.

Palmer 2003 had a heart attack and died suddenly in his hotel room in Paris. He had been in the French capital after recording a television appearance in London for Yorkshire TV, a retrospective titled My Kinda People He was only 54 when he passed away.
