Dundee United
Before joining Dundee United as a professional in July 2009, Stuart Armstrong played for Dyce Boys Club and the Inverness Caledonian Thistle youth team. He made his first team debut for Dundee United in November 2010, coming on as a substitute in a 1–0 win over Hamilton Academical.
Later, in December 2011 against St Mirren, in a 2-2 draw, he scored his first goal for United. He signed a three-year contract with Dundee United in September 2012 after making six appearances this year. In October 2012, he signed a brand-new contract with United. On November 24, he scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 victory over Ross County.
Stuart Armstrong and Dundee United started discussing a new deal on November 19; on December 12, he signed a one-year agreement. International Career
He played at the under-19 and under-21 levels for Scotland. O n August 2015 and March 2017, the national team called him up once more. On March 26, 2017, he made his full international debut in a 1-0 victory against Slovenia. He had an injury in September 2017 and was forced to miss two 2018 World Cup qualifying matches.
After testing positive for COVID-19 in October 2020, he withdrew from the Scotland team for a UEFA Euro 2020 qualification play-off semifinal against Israel. He was chosen for the Scotland team for the delayed UEFA Euro 2020 competition in May 2021.
