Stephen Curry is a professional basketball player from the United States. In the National Basketball Association, Stephen Curry plays for the Golden State Warriors (NBA). Moreover, he was the first player in NBA history to be named Most Valuable Player by a unanimous vote.

Early life

Wardell Stephen Curry II  best known as Stephen Curry was born on 14th March 1988, in Akron, Ohio, in the United States of America. As of now, he is 35 years old and he holds citizenship in America.

College career

He played his first college game against ‘Eastern Michigan’ after attending ‘Davidson College’. In the game, he only had 15 points and committed 13 turnovers.

With an average of 21.5 points per game, he concluded the season as the country’s second-leading scorer, earning him the title of “Southern Conference Freshman of the Year”.

In the 2007-08 season, he built on his freshman season’s record-breaking 122 three-pointers with an even more impressive performance.

He led the ‘Davidson Wildcats to their first ‘NCAA Tournament appearance since 1969 and helped his team in continuing its 22-game winning streak.

Moreover, he became Davidson’s all-time highest scorer in his junior year, scoring 34 points. On November 18, 2008, he also established a career-high with 44 points against ‘Oklahoma’.

He surpassed the previous scoring leader, John Gerdy, and became the ‘NCAA’ scoring leader that season.

Professional career

Stephen dropped out of Davidson College without finishing his senior year to pursue a career in the NBA. The ‘Golden State Warriors chose him with the seventh overall pick in the 2009  NBA draft.

He displayed his shooting ability from the start, scoring a league-record 166 three-pointers as a rookie.

During the next two seasons, his injuries and the fact that he played for a bad team kept him out of the spotlight. He fully recovered from his ankle sprain throughout the 2012-13 season.

As a result of his record combined three-pointers in a season, he and his teammate Klay Thompson were dubbed “The Splash Brothers”. Stephen alone broke an NBA record with 272 three-pointers in a season.

He made his first ‘All-Star appearance for the ‘West’ in February 2014, and he was later chosen to his first ‘All-NBA Team’. He also surpassed Jason Richardson as the top three-point shooter for the Warriors.

With 286 three-pointers made in a single season during the 2014-15 season, he set a new league record.

In 2015, he was named the NBA’s “Most Valuable Player” after leading the Warriors to their first title since 1975. He helped his team win 24 consecutive games the next season, for a total of 73 wins, an all-time NBA record.

Despite an injury, he led the ‘Warriors’ to their second consecutive NBA Finals, but his record of 27 three-pointers in a single game couldn’t save the team.

During the 2015-16 season, he continued to break records, including his own, amassing a total of 402 three-pointers. He was also the first player in NBA history to be voted “Most Valuable Player” unanimously.

In the 2016–17 season, he set several NBA three-point records and became the second player in NBA history to reach 300 three-pointers, with 324. His team had won a postseason spot by February 25, 2017, becoming the fastest team in NBA history to do so.

In 2007, Stephen made his FIBA Under-19 World Championship debut with the US National Basketball Team. Later, as a senior squad member in 2010, he helped his team win a Gold medal. Furthermore, his team also went unbeaten in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

In the 2018 NBA finals, he guided the ‘Golden State Warriors to their third title in four seasons. Moreover, in 2016, he founded ‘Unanimous Media,’ a production company with his friends Jeron Smith and Erick Peyton.

His achievement of being the first unanimous MVP in NBA history inspired the company’s name.
