MTV created a reality show, “The Hills” in the year 2006. The show was a spin-off of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. This series followed the lives of Lauren Conrad, who was previously on Laguna Beach, her roommate Heidi Montag, and their friends Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.
However, things took a turn when Stephanie Pratt’s brother Spencer began dating and eventually moved in with Heidi, causing a strain on her friendship with Lauren. And, in the third season of the show, Lauren Conrad ended her friendship with Heidi Montag.
Because, she suspected that Heidi’s boyfriend, Spencer, was spreading rumours about a sex tape involving Lauren and her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler. This led to a feud between the three that continued throughout the show.
During that same season, Stephanie Pratt was able to make her first appearance on the series and confronted Lauren angrily at a club. However, they later realized they attended the same college and became friends.
This strained her relationship with her brother and Heidi, who began to distance themselves from her. Likewise, Stephanie’s role became more prominent, focusing on her personal life in the fourth season. Then, in the next season, she began an internship at Kelly Cutrone’s PR firm, People’s Revolution. She again made a comeback as a main cast member for the sixth and final season.

Stephanie Pratt was arrested for stealing $1300 worth of clothing from Neiman Marcus in May 2006 on Oahu. The judge charged her with second-degree theft, and while in custody, police also found drugs in her possession. Also, in October 2009, she was arrested for driving under the influence after Holly Montag’s birthday.
However, she claimed she only drank one glass of wine but blew a 0.08 after being pulled over for tinted windows. Fortunately, she was released after paying $5K bail and being sentenced to three year’s probation, which she completed.
