Sherrod Small worked as a doorman and bouncer at the Comedy Cellar for years. He always introduced himself as Chris Rock’s cousin and his famous tagline was “I’m Black”. Eventually, this led him to become a regular at the Comedy Cellar and Comic Strip Live in Manhattan.
He started his comedian journey from there. He also was a regular on “VH1’s The Best Week Ever”. He was able to serve as a regular guest as well as stand-in host of Fox News’s late-night satire program “Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld”.
Likewise, Small also starred on Tough Crowd, Premium Blend, and The Chris Rock Show. He was an infrequent guest on the Opie and Anthony radio show as well. He went on to take a more regular role on its successor, Opie with Jim Norton, following Anthony Cumia’s firing on July 3, 2014.
Moreover, in the year 2016, he along with comedian Christian Finnegan went on to debut as co-host of “Black and White”. It is a comedy/talk show on A&E that explores issues of race relations in America but the show was cancelled in September 2016.
