Sharon White is a British businesswoman and civil servant. Previously, Sharon White served as Chief Executive of the British media regulator Ofcom from March 2015 to November 2019 and was Second Permanent Secretary at HM Treasury from 2013 to 2015.
Early Life
Sharon White was born on the 21 April 1967, the London, England, the United Kingdom. Her full name is Sharon Michele White and holds British nationality.

During the intervention between 2007 and 2008, she oversaw a review of the government’s financial management and the Treasury’s management response to the international financial crisis. Sharon White then became the Treasury’s Director-General for Public Spending from 2012 to 2013.

She was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of The Office of Communications in December 2014. In June 2019, it was revealed that she would be stepping down from her position as the sixth Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership at “The Office of Communications.”
Sharon took over for Mayfield during the John Lewis Partnership Council meeting on February 4, 2020. It was announced that she will be paid an annual salary of £990,000 for her work at the John Lewis Partnership, a huge rise from her prior income of £341,700, according to Ofcom statistics. Meanwhile, she announced that she would be stepping down from her role at John Lewis Partnership in October 2023.

She was ranked the seventh most powerful black person in Britain by The Voice in November 2014.
Moreover, she has been recognized by Powerlist for her influence as one of the most powerful Black British people in the UK on several occasions, topping the 2023 list and regularly ranking in the top 10 since 2016, including second place in 2019 and last listed in the 2020 and 2021 editions.
In the 2020 New Year Honours, she was named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for public service.
