He went on to win the Irish and WBO Inter-Continental belts before overcoming Chisora in a rematch for the European and WBO International heavyweight titles in 2014. This victory along with his 24-0 record, earned Fury a fight in Germany against long-reigning world champion Wladimir Klitschko, which he won by unanimous decision.
Recent Career
Fury’s IBF championship was removed ten days after the Klitschko fight because he was unable to reach an agreement on a rematch with the IBF’s required challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov, due to a rematch provision in his contract with Klitschko.
The rematch was cancelled because of Fury’s mental health concerns, which led to drinking, recreational drug usage, and severe weight gain. He gave up the WBA, WBO, and IBO belts in 2016, and The Ring stripped him of his final remaining title in early 2018.
He fought Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title later that year, following more than two years of inactivity. The fight was controversially ruled a draw.
After a strong performance in the rematch in February 2020, Fury defeated Wilder via technical knockout in the seventh round. He knocked Wilder out again in the eleventh round of the trilogy fight in October 2021.
Since 2020, he held the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title. The boxer previously held the unified heavyweight titles from 2015 to 2016, and the Ring magazine title twice between 2015 and 2022.
