Samantha Bee started working as a waitress and auditioned for acting roles in Toronto. At age 26, she toured with a staged production of Sailor Moon, in which she portrayed the title character. She was in the “A” cast of Sailor Moon, whereas Jason Jones, her future husband, was in the “B” cast.
She was one of the four original members of Toronto’s sketch comedy troupe The Atomic Fireballs. After this, she made her acting debut in television, in a 2000 episode of “Real Kids, Real Adventures.” Then, she appeared in the TV movies “Ham I Am” (2001) and “Jasper, Texas” (2003).

She made her acting debut in the 2004 Canadian independent film “Ham & Cheese” co-written by her husband Jason Jones and starring Canadian comics Scott Thompson and Dave Foley. In the year 2007, she guest-starred on “Rescue Me” and starred in the superhero movie “Underdog.”
She shared the screen with her husband in the 2008 film “Coopers’ Camera,” and the same year she also appeared in “The Love Guru.” She starred in a three-episode stint on HBO’s “Bored to Death” and appeared in the films “Whatever Works” and “Motherhood” in the year 2009.
The following year, she had an uncredited role in Tina Fey and Steve Carell’s comedy “Date Night,” featured in the film “Furry Vengeance,” and guest-starred on “Law & Order.”

She played Mother Goose on “Sesame Street” in 2010 and 2012 before appearing in the film “Learning to Drive” (2014) and guest-starring on “The Michael J. Fox Show” (2014), “Deadbeat” (2014), and “Halal In The Family” (2015).
