Junior Level Career
Ruthvika Shivani made her international sub-junior debut in 2010, winning bronze in the women’s doubles category at the Badminton Asia Youth U17 & U15 Championships in Chiba, Japan, her first medal at the international level.
Ruthvika Shivani won a silver medal in the women’s doubles category at the Li-Ning Singapore Youth International in the same year. Shivani won a silver medal in the women’s singles event at the Badminton Asia Youth U17 & U15 Championships in Chiba, Japan, in 2011.
She also won silver in the women’s doubles event at the DJARUM SIRNAS REG.IV FLY POWER PERTAMINA JATIM OPEN in Surabaya, Indonesia. Moreover, she made her international junior debut in 2011 at the Ramenskoe Junior International in Ramenskoe, Russia.
She beat Russian player Evgeniya Kosetskaya to win the women’s singles title. Similarly, she also won a bronze medal in women’s doubles. She won bronze in the mixed team event at the Asian Junior Championships.

Shivani won the women’s singles championship in the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial India Junior International, which took place in Pune, Maharashtra. In the finals, she defeated Liang Xiaoyu.
Shivani won the Tata Open India International women’s singles championship in December, defeating Arundhati Pantawane in the final. On September 7, 2014, she won her third straight women’s singles title at the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial India Junior International in Pune, Maharastra, beating Karthik Reshma in the final.

Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Open International which was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh in December of 2015, won the women’s singles title by beating top-seeded US player Iris Wang. In October, she won a bronze medal in women’s singles at the Babolat Bulgarian International in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In September, she competed in the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial India Junior International, which was held in Pune, India. She won the women’s singles title for the fourth year in a row by defeating second-seeded opponent Supamart Mingchua in the final.
She won the women’s singles in the Radhey Shyam Gupta Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
Recent Career
She won two gold medals in the 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong, in the women’s team and women’s singles. Shivani pulled off the greatest upset by defeating P. V. Sindhu in straight games to win the women’s singles title.
She competed in the 2016 Uber Cup as a member of India’s national team and won a bronze medal at the Thomas & Uber Cup World Team Championships Finals in Kunshan, China.
