Ruthie Tompson was born in Portland, Maine, United States on July 22, 1910. Her full name is Ruth Irene Tompson. Ruthie had an American nationality and followed a Christian religion. Her zodiac sign is Cancer.

Regarding her family background, At the age of eight, she relocated to Oakland, California, with her family in November 1918. Her mother, Arlene, remarried artist John Roberts after her parents separated in 1924.

Throughout WWII, Tompson remained employed by Disney and was promoted to the position of animation checker, where she worked on training and instructional movies for the US Armed Forces that featured Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy.

Further, Tompson began working in the camera division in 1948, creating camera movements and mechanics for shooting animation. She was one of the first three women accepted into IATSE Local 659, the International Photographers Union.

Tompson kept climbing the studio ladder and eventually took over as the screen planning division’s manager.
