Early Life and Education
Russell Woolf was born Russell Lesley Woolf in the year 1964, in Perth, Australia. However, he hadn’t disclosed about his parents and other family members. Professionally, Russell was a television personality and journalist. He spent 18 months as a presenter for 6SE Radio West in Esperance, two years at 6KG in Kalgoorlie, and then five years with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) as its Karratha-based resources reporter. Woolf then traveled back to Perth, where he and Verity James co-hosted the afternoon program on 720. He took over the Drive program in the late afternoon of 2005, and he ran it until December 2013, when he left ABC.
In addition, from 2007 to 2011, Woolf provided the weather report for ABC News in Perth. Due to budgetary constraints, ABC eliminated the position. As a result, the lead newsreader (at the time, Karina Carvalho), was now in charge of delivering the weather. Woolf supported Inclusion WA and served as an ambassador for the Western Australian Commissioner for Children and Young People. He left his role as the host of Saturday Breakfast on 720 on December 12, 2015, after his final show. In January 2019, he returned to ABC Radio Perth to co-host the weekday Breakfast program with Nadia Mitsopoulos. Mitsopoulos switched to the Morning program in January 2021, leaving Woolf as the sole presenter.
