He has participated in a lot of Olympic Games and World Championships as well. Karpati along with his team won the gold medals in the 1948, 1952, 1956, and 1960 Summer Olympics, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957, and 1958 World Fencing Championships.

He also won the silver medal in the 1959 World Fencing Championships and the bronze medal in the 1961 World Fencing Championships along with his team.

Moreover, Rudolf individually won the gold medals in the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics and the 1954 and 1959 World Fencing Championships.

He also won the silver medals in the 1955 and 1957 World Fencing World Championships and the bronze medal in the 1953 World Fencing Championships. Moreover, Rudolf Karpati was a member of the Hungarian Fencing Federation from 1961 to 1991.

After retiring from competitions, in the year 1977, he was able to become president of the Budapest Fencing Federation. And also an administrator along with the Fédération Internationale d’Escrime.
