Ron Desantis is a politician and attorney from the United States. Ron Desantis has currently serving as the 46th governor of Florida since 2019 and is a member of the Republican Party.

Early Life

Ron Desantis was born on September 14, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida, the United States. His full name is Ronald Dion DeSantis and he is an American citizen. According to the astrological chart, he has a birth sign of Virgo and is currently 45 years old. He belongs to the Italian-American ethnicity.

He was born to Ronald Daniel DeSantis and Karen DeSantis. Moreover, his mother worked as a nurse and his father installed Nielsen TV-rating boxes. His family then relocated to Orlando, Florida, before moving when he was six years old to the city of Dunedin, Florida’s Tampa Bay region.

In addition, he has had only one sibling, a younger sister Christina, who died in 2015 at age 30 from a pulmonary embolism.

Moving forward to his academics, he attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and Dunedin High School, graduating in 1997. Later, he studied history at Yale University. During this time, he captained Yale’s varsity baseball team; he played outfield, and as a senior in 2001 he had the team’s best batting average at .336.

He completed his graduation from Yale in 2001 with a B.A., magna cum laude. Moreover, he then attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 2005 with a Juris Doctor, cum laude.

Professional Career

While studying at the University, Ron Desantis worked a variety of jobs, including as an electrician’s assistant and a coach at a baseball camp.

After completing his graduation, he taught history and coached for a year at Darlington School in Georgia. He was also a business manager for the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 2004 and was promoted to lieutenant before serving as a legal advisor to SEAL Team One. He was stationed at Joint Task Force Guantanamo in 2006 and then deployed to Iraq in 2007.

When he returned to the United States roughly eight months later, the attorney general appointed DeSantis as a special assistant US attorney in the US Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida, a post he held until his honourable retirement from active military service in 2010.

Political Career

DeSantis was first elected to Congress in 2012, and he was reelected in 2014 and 2016. During his service, he was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus and a supporter of President Trump. Moreover, he ran for the United States Senate briefly in 2016 but dropped out when incumbent Senator Marco Rubio sought reelection. He received the Republican nomination for governor in 2018 and narrowly defeated the Democratic Party’s nominee, Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum, by 0.4%.

He served as governor during the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. Moreover, he advocated for the passage of the Parental Rights in Education Act.

In the 2022 gubernatorial election, he defeated Charlie Crist by 19.4 percentage points, the state’s largest margin of victory in 40 years.

He declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination on May 24, 2023, and remained governor throughout the campaign. On January 21, 2024, he dropped his candidacy and supported Trump.

Initially, the family resided in Ponte Vedra Beach, near St. Augustine. However, the family moved to Palm Coast, north of Daytona Beach after the Beach drew into the neighboring 4th district.
