Early life
On June 18, 1986, Richard Gabriel Cyr Gasquet was born in Beziers, France. As of now, he is already 37 years old and his zodiac sign is Gemini.
He was born to his father Serignan Gasquet and his mother Maryse Gasquet. His parents both were tennis teachers and ran a local tennis club.
Due to his parent’s influence, he began playing tennis at the age of 4. At the age of 9, he was touted as a future champion. It was on the cover of the February 1996 issue of French Tennis Magazine.

At the age of 17, Richard Gasquet competed in the finals of Metz, his first ATP Tour Singles. Unfortunately, he lost to Jérôme Haehnel.

He defended his title at Nottingham, even having a disappointing 1st half of the season. And, he lost his first match at Wimbledon against Roger Federer, unfortunately.
In the second half of the season, he came back with an improvement. Later on, he moved to the US Open and the Canadian Open and he lost to Federer again.
On Lyon’s indoor carpet, he won his third ATP Tour Singles title. In a single year, he completed his achievement of reaching the ATP singles finals on all four surfaces.

In 2007, he reached world No.7 which was his all-time high ranking in the ATP ranking structure. In the Australian Open, he also reached the fourth round.
For the first time at Wimbledon, he appeared in the Grand Slam semifinals. Thus, he defeated Andy Roddick and it was one of the greatest Wimbledon quarterfinals.
Similarly, he lost in the semifinals to Federer. Unfortunately, he couldn’t participate in the US Open in 2007 due to a virus. Meanwhile, he won his fifth ATP title by defending against Olivier Rochus.
Additionally, in the Tokyo ATP tournament, he reached the finals. After a few weeks break, Soon, he returned to Lyon, after a few week’s break.
During the time, he was the defending champion but lost the title to Tsonga. In Paris Masters, they again met where Gasquet beat Tsonga in the 2nd round.

Career highlights
Unfortunately, he did not earn any medals in the men’s singles category. In the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, he had intentions of playing. Later on, he decided to go into the US Open instead.
Hence, he started preparing for the 2008 US Open and opted out of the Olympics. Also, he is currently playing at the Croatia Open and is not in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics either.
Likewise, he was rather preparing for Wimbledon and the Swedish Open.
Moving on, he played in the Australian Open, Sony Ericsson Open, Abierto Mexicano Telcel tournament, BNP Paribas Open, and French Open, to name a few.
In 2013, due to multiple injuries, losses, and lack he lost his top ten ATP rankings and reverted to 27. Later, he made his come and he reached the quarterfinals of the US Open.
Therefore, also reached the fourth round for the French Open. Moving on, he made it a point to return to the top 10, in 2017. He made a statement that he wanted to focus more on the bigger tournaments.
