Early Life
Raj Shrikant Thackeray known as Raj Thackeray was born on 14th June 1968, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His current age is 54 years old according to his birth date and his birth name is Swaraj Shrikant Thackeray. The politician is an Indian citizen and belongs to the Hindu religion. His zodiac sign is Gemini. He was the son of father Shrikant Prabhodanhar Thackeray and mother Kunda Thackeray. Early years in Shiv Sen
Raj Thackeray began his political career by launching the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena, the Shiv Sena’s student wing. During the 1990 Maharashtra assembly elections, he rose to fame. He thought himself to be the heir of his uncle, Balasaheb, in the 1990s. Balasaheb, on the other hand, showed a strong preference for his son, Uddhav.

After years of being neglected, Raj resigned from the Shiv Sena in January 2006 and announced his intention to form a new political party. He founded the “Maharashtra Navnirman Sena” party in Mumbai on 9th March 2006. He also provides the party name a theme “Sons of Soil”. In addition, he said at the time of the party’s foundation that he did not want to have a feud with his uncle, who “was, is, and always will be (his) mentor.”
In the year 2008, he led violent activities in Maharashtra against the dominance of North Indians,s, especially against Up and Bihar. His political party and Shiv Sena banned Australian cricketers from participating in IPL (season 3) in Mumbai as a protest against the attacks on Indian students in Australia. In September 2008, MNS workers started blackening English signboards to impose Marathi signboards be used.
In the same year, Raj Thackeray threatened to ban the Bachchan family’s films unless Jaya Bachchan apologized. The reason behind that was when Jaya Bachchan said ‘We are the people of UP so we will speak Hindi, not Marathi’.MNS workers started to attack theaters featuring movies related to Jaya. Later on, Amitabh Bachchan (husband of Jaya) apologized for it. On 2nd October 2009, MNS workers interrupted the screening of the movie ‘Wake Up Sid’ on its release in a few Pine and Mumbai theaters. After Raj objected to the references to Mumbai in the movie as “Bombay” rather than “Mumbai”. Due to this reason, in several moments in the film, he changes to “Bombay.”
