During her teens, she became a student of the Chicago-based songwriter and producer, Steve “Stone” Huff.
Wyatt recorded The album ‘My First Love’ with Avant. It became a hit and remained in the top 10 for several weeks. She got a solo album contract with MCA. Her first solo ‘Used to Love’ got people to listen to her music but didn’t achieve mass attention then in 2001 her solo debut ‘Soul Sista’ reached number 33 on Billboard 200 and sold more than one million copies.
Her career sort of took a dip for a few years and in the year 2010, Wyatt released the single “Who Knew” which was able to reach the 35th position at Billboard. She released the remake of the popular 80s song ‘Saturday Love’. Later in the year 2013, She and Avant collaborated on the project “You and I” which peaked at no. 1 on Billboards Urban A/C chart.
