Pyotr Mamonov is a late Russian musician, actor, and poet. Moreover, Pyotr Mamonov was the lead singer and the frontman of the rock band “Zvuki Mu” (Sounds of Mu).
Early Life
On the 14th of April 1951, Pyotr Mamonov was born in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. His birth name is Pyotr Nikolayevich Mamonov and held Russian nationality. Death
Back in August 2019, he suffered a heart attack, necessitating the cancellation of his concerts for two and a half months while he had surgery. He was hospitalized with COVID-19 on the 26th of June 2019. Meanwhile, he was put into a medically induced coma and died on 15 July at the age of 70.

Musical Career
Initially, Pyotr Mamonov began his musical career as the lead singer and songwriter of the experimental rock band “Zvuki Mu” (Sounds of Mu). The band was established in Moscow in 1982 and quickly gained popularity in the Soviet underground music scene for their unique sound and Mamonov’s distinctive vocals.

He played the leading role in Pavel Lungin’s 1990 “Taxi Blues.”

His breakthrough role as an actor came in the 1998 film “The Barber of Siberia,” directed by Nikita Mikhalkov. He played the lead role of Ilya, a Russian engineer who falls in love with a young American woman in 19th-century Siberia. Mamonov’s performance was widely praised by critics, and the film went on to become a box-office success.
Some of Mamonov’s other notable film roles include his performance as the lead in the 2006 film “The Island,” for which he won the Best Actor award at the 2007 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. He also appeared in the films “The Edge” (2010), “Generation P” (2011), and “The Postman’s White Nights” (2014), among many others.

Throughout his professional career, he received numerous awards and recognitions for his work. In 1999, he won the Best Actor award at the Montreal World Film Festival for his role in the film “The Barber of Siberia.” Later, he won the Best Actor award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival for his role in the film “The Island” in 2007.
Pyotr Mamonov won the 2011 Nika Award (Russia’s top film award) for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film “Silent Souls.” In 2014, he won the Order of Merit for the Fatherland (4th class) from the Russian government for his contributions to the arts. He was awarded the Order of Honor by the Russian government for his contributions to culture and art in the year 2019.
