Peter Clay Carroll is an American Football Coach in the NFL. Pete Carroll is a head coach and executive vice president for the NFL team Seattle Seahawks. Likewise, he also used to coach at USC(University of South Carolina).
Early Life and Education
Pete Carroll was born on the 15th of September, 1951, in San Francisco, California. He was born to parents James Edward “Jim” Carroll and Rita Carroll.
His mother Rita is a renowned person in San Francisco. Pete grew up in Greenbrae, California. He completed his high school at Redwood High School in Larkspur, California. Likewise, he is 72 years old.
Pete lacked physical progress as a teenager, after being athletic as a child, which caused him frustration in high school sports. He weighed just 50kg as a freshman.
Pete was required to show a special doctor’s clearance to try out for football. He could play several positions in football. Pete played quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back.
Pete also played other sports like basketball and baseball. In 1969, he was awarded the school’s Athlete of the Year honors as a senior.
In April 2009, Pete was inducted into the Redwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Pete Carroll – Early Career
He enrolled in junior college at the nearby College of Marin. Pete played football at the College of Marin for 2 years before he asked for a transfer.
He transferred to the University of Pacific where he played free safety for two years and also became a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
He was also awarded All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors in both years. In 1973, He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Pete Carroll – Professional Career
Pete Carroll’s professional career started when his head coach offered him to become a graduate assistant. He became an assistant coach at the University of Pacific in 1973. He earned a secondary teaching credential.
Pete also got a master’s degree in physical education in 1976 whilst working as a graduate assistant for three years.
In 1995, Pete was inducted into the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame. After working with Pacific, Pete was hired by the University of Arkansas as a graduate assistant in 1977.
During his tenure in Arkansas, he received more duties and responsibilities as an assistant than he did for the Pacific.
After Arkansas, he went to work as an assistant work for Iowa State University and North Carolina State University.
NFL
In 1984, Pete was hired by the Buffalo Bills as a defensive backs coach. He worked with the Minnesota Vikings next year in a similar position.
Pete worked under Bruce Coslet for the New York Jets as a defensive coordinator for four seasons until he was promoted to head coach of the Jets in 1994.
He was fired as the Jets lost continuously and he couldn’t bring the Jets trophy. Pete was signed by the New England Patriots in 1997 but he later resigned due to personal reasons.
He coached the Patriots for two seasons. Pete got fired by the Patriots in 1999 after an unsuccessful season.
USC
Pete signed with USC on December 15, 2000, after he failed in the NFL. During his stint, the team performed very well. The Trojans finished 1st five times.
Seattle Seahawks
Pete signed with the Seahawks as a head coach on January 11, 2010. His deal with the Seahawks was worth $ 33 million for 5 years.
He was also selected as an executive vice president of the club. Pete has won several trophies with the Seahawks since 2010.
In his first year, the Seahawks finished first in the NFC West. The Seahawks were defeated by the Chicago Bears in a divisional round with a score of 35-24.
The Seahawks failed to qualify for a playoff in 2011 after a successful season the previous year. Pete was criticized heavily for his coaching style until the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2013.
The Seahawks looked to repeat and win the Super Bowl again next season but they were defeated by Pete’s former team, the New England Patriots.
Pete extended the contract with the Seahawks on July 25, 2016. During his tenure, he broke various records. He was the third-oldest coach to win the Super Bowl.
For four years, the Seahawks led the league in scoring defense. It was the first club to do it since the Cleveland Browns of the 1950s. Pete is the head coach of the Seahawks till now.
