Maria Kirilenko defeated her in three sets. Similarly, she competed in the women’s singles and women’s doubles events at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Zheng Jie. She advanced to the second round.

After 2020
The Shenzhen Open was Peng’s first tournament of the 2020 season. Ekaterina Alexandrova, the fifth seed and eventual champion defeated her in the second round. Peng lost the second round of the Thailand Open to Magda Linette, the fifth seed and eventual champion. She lost to Magdalena French in the first round of qualifying in Doha. She hasn’t played a match since the Qatar Total Open in Doha in February 2020.
