In the 2nd round, the Minnesota Twins, with the 71st overall selection, of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. Additionally, he signed, receiving a $514,800 signing bonus. And, he finally made his debut with the Gulf Coast Twins of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League.

In 2011, the Elizabethton Twins of the Rookie-level Appalachian League had a .275 batting average. he batted 260, in 2013, for the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Single–Midwest League.

He played a game for the Fort Myers Miracle of the High–Florida State League, where he batted 249, in 2014. Additionally, he transitioned from shortstop to third base. In 2015, he spent with both Fort Myers and the Chattanooga Lookouts of the Double-A–Southern League. In the 2017 season, he began with the Rochester Red Wings of the Triple-A International League.

Later, he did not return for the rest of the season, due to his injury. Moving on, he hit .248 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI in 423 at-bats. He and the Tiger agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract, avoiding arbitration, on January 15, 2021. For the 2021 Tigers, he played 90 games batting 214 with 9 home runs, 14 stolen bases, and 33 RBI.

Following 2021, season, the Tigers removed Goodrum from the 40-man roster. Therefore, he cleared waivers and elected free agency, on November 19, 2021. Similarly, he signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Houston Astros, on March 15, 2022. Therefore, he was designated for assignment, on September 1, 2022. After 2 days, he cleared waivers and became a free agent.

Hence, he signed a minor-league contract with the Boston Red Sox organization, on December 21, 2022. He exercised the opt-out clause in his contract and was released by the Red Sox, on July 2, 2023. Moving on, he signed a $400,000 contract with the Lotte Giants of the KBO League, on July 11, 2023.
