Nikita withdrew from the 2021 Russian Championships due to a throat infection. Then, he began his International 2021 season at the 2021 European Championships.
Nikita took part in representing the Russian Olympic Committee along with his team at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. The team finished first and this was the first team Olympic gold medal for Russian athletes in 25 years.
