Nik Richie was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, the United States, on February 12, 1979. His full name is Hooman Abedi Karamian and holds American nationality. James’ brother, Jay Grdina, was married to Jenna Jameson from 2003 until 2006. Jay and Jenna co-founded ClubJenna, an adult website that was purchased by Playboy for an estimated $10-15 million in 2006. In 2009, James sued Jay and Jenna, claiming he provided venture funding for them to acquire Penthouse Magazine, which did not materialize. Dirty World Entertainment Recordings, LLC, a federal court in Kentucky first determined that Richie was not entitled to CDA immunity in a lawsuit involving multiple posts regarding Kentucky high school teacher and part-time cheerleader Sarah Jones. The jury awarded Jones $338,000 in compensatory and punitive damages. However, Richie successfully appealed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which vacated and dismissed the verdict in June 2014.
