Early Life
Nancy Kerrigan opened her eyes to this world on the 13th of October 1969, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, the United States. She is currently 54 years old and has a zodiac sign of Libra. Professional Career
Through her family support, Nancy Kerrigan started her professional career at a young age. She rose to notoriety at the national level after finishing fourth in the junior division at the 1987 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
In 1988, she made her senior debut and finished twelfth. She increased her national ranks over the next two years, finishing fifth in 1989 and fourth in 1990. Moreover, she was still weak in compulsory figures, but they were dropped from contests in 1990. At the 1991 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, she was placed in the third position.
She qualified for the World Figure Skating Championships in 1991, where she took bronze. Moreover, she took bronze in the 1992 Olympics. The next year, she won the US National Championship in 1993. She also won an Olympic silver medal in 1994 and two world medals.
Attack
Kerrigan was assaulted with a police baton in January 1994 by an assailant hired by Tonya Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly and co-conspirator Shawn Eckardt. The incident was dubbed “The Whack Heard Round the World.” She immediately recovered from her knee injury and began her rigorous training. She went on to win a silver medal at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994 at the Hamar Olympic Amphitheatre.
Following the incident, she was forced to withdraw from the national championship. Despite this setback, she was chosen for the Olympic team. She had extensive training and won the silver medal in the ‘Lillehammer Winter Olympics’ in 1994. Oksana Baiul of Ukraine won the gold medal. The two contenders were locked in a close battle. Almost immediately, a dispute erupted over the German justice’s prejudiced judgment.
Post Career
She retired from competitive skating after winning the ‘Winter Olympics’ in 1994. Moreover, she did take part in a few events, including the ‘Ice Wars.’ She also appeared in other ice performances, including ‘Champions on Ice’ and ‘Broadway on Ice.’ She also appeared in an ice show based on the musical ‘Footloose.’
In 1994, she hosted an episode of ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Later, she hosted a show called ‘Nancy Kerrigan’s World of Skating’ on ‘The Comcast Network’ in 2005. In 2006, she starred on the ‘Fox’ reality show ‘Skating with Celebrities.’ She made a cameo appearance in the 2007 comedy film ‘Blades of Glory.’ It was based on the lives of ice athletes.
During the ‘Winter Olympics’ in 2010, Kerrigan worked as a special correspondent for the news program Entertainment Tonight.
