Nancy Allen made her film debut in the 1973 comedy-drama movie “The Last Detail” and played the role of Nancy. Later, she went to Los Angeles to continue her acting career. After moving to LA, she struggled to find acting jobs and was told by an agent that, being 25 years old, it “was over for her.”
But, she was selected for the role of the spoiled and popular mean girl Christine Hargensen in director Brian De Palma’s horror film “Carrie” (1976) opposite Sissy Spacek, Amy Irving, and John Travolta, as the title character’s chief nemesis.
In the late 1970s, she continued to appear in films such as “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”(1978), and “1941” (1979). She worked over the next several years and appeared in three films with her ex-husband Brian De Palma’s direction.
She first appeared as Kristina in Kirk Douglas’s “Home Movies” (1980), and then as prostitute Liz Blake in the thriller “Dressed to Kill” (1980). Moreover, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year for her performance. She then appeared in her final film with De Palma, the neo-noir “Blow Out” (1981).

Moreover, she rose to prominence as Officer Anne Lewis in the science fiction/action film “Robocop” in 1987. She went on to play Anna Lewis in “RoboCop 2” (1990), and “RocoCop 3” (1993), Jessie Gallardo in “The Man Who Wouldn’t Die” (1994), Midge in “Out of Sight” (1998), Louise in “Circuit” (2001), Narrator in “Bound by Flash” (2012), and many more roles after her success.

Besides big screen roles, she also has appeared in television roles including Paula James in “Another World” from 1983 to 1984, Megan in “Touched by an Angel” in 1994, Helen White in “Judging Amy “in 2001, Carin Healy in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in 2003, and many others.
