On May 1, 1991, as a Ranger, Stanley caught the final of Nolan Ryan’s seven career no-hitters. He hit the first pinch grand slam in Rangers history on June 27, 1987, against the Twins. Following his retirement as a player, Stanley was hired as the Red Sox’s bench coach for the 2002 season. He resigned at the end of the season to spend more time with his family.
