Mike Golic Jr. – Education

In terms of his academics, he attended Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Connecticut, where he was a standout lineman for the Northwest Catholic Indians high school football team.

He was chosen to compete in the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. In both his junior and senior seasons, he was chosen to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Class S all-state team.

Later, he enrolled at Notre Dame and played college football. In November 2012, he was chosen to the Capital One Academic All-District V team and in December 2012, he also was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Football Team.

Professional Career

In the 2013 NFL Draft, Mike Golic Jr. was undrafted. Fortunately, he impressed the Pittsburgh Steelers, who, in turn, signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2013. On August 31, 2013, the Steelers announced that he had been cut from their 53-man roster.

Later, he signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints on May 10, 2014. He could not really impress the Saints and they waived him on June 2, 2014. On April 16, 2015, he re-signed with the New Orleans Saints and was waived by the team on September 5, 2015.

After this, he took part in the Montreal Alouettes training camp and he joined the team on June 11, 2015. However, he was released prior to the start of the season. Later, he was assigned to the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League (AFL) on September 25, 2014. He was placed on recallable reassignment on November 11, 2015.

Moreover, he announced his retirement from professional football on August 19, 2016, while co-hosting ‘The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.’


After his retirement, he started working as a full-time broadcaster. He was the co-host of ‘First and Last’ as of April 4, 2016. In addition, he was also a regular guest co-host of ‘Mike & Mike’ (usually stepping in for his father), and in November 2017, he became a regular on the succeeding program Golic and Wingo. Golic Jr. and his new companion, Chiney Ogwumike, begin their new afternoon drive radio program, ‘Chiney & Golic Jr.,’ on ESPN Radio from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET on August 17, 2020.

Moreover, Chiney Ogwumike departed from the show in the fall of 2021 to become a regular analyst on ESPN’s NBA Today. Chris Canty has taken up her position. On February 8, 2022, Golic Jr. announced on Twitter that he had worked his final day at ESPN.
