Meg Ryan’s debut in director George Cukor’s final film, Rich and Famous was a huge success. She was able to gain popularity through it. After that, she went on to play Betsy Stewart in the daytime drama “As the World Turns” from the year 1982 to 1984.
She then was able to land several television and smaller film roles such as Charles in Charge, Armed and Dangerous, and Amityville 3-D. Also, her role in Promised Land in 1987 was able to earn her first Independent Spirit Award nomination. She even got the opportunity to star opposite the famous actor, Tom Cruise.
Meg’s first leading role was in the romantic comedy film “When Harry Met Sally… ” in the year 1989. This movie was a career breakthrough for her as she earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role.
