Early Life and Childhood
Meg Ryan was born in Fairfield, Connecticut, USA, on November 19, 1961. She is 62 years old and is under the astrological sign, Scorpio. She holds American nationality and her full name is Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra.
Her mother’s name is Susan Jordan Duggan and her father’s name is Harry Hyra. Her mother was a former actress and English teacher whereas her father was a math teacher and is of Polish descent.

Meg Ryan’s debut in director George Cukor’s final film, Rich and Famous was a huge success. She was able to gain popularity through it. After that, she went on to play Betsy Stewart in the daytime drama “As the World Turns” from the year 1982 to 1984.
She then was able to land several television and smaller film roles such as Charles in Charge, Armed and Dangerous, and Amityville 3-D. Also, her role in Promised Land in 1987 was able to earn her first Independent Spirit Award nomination. She even got the opportunity to star opposite the famous actor, Tom Cruise.
Meg’s first leading role was in the romantic comedy film “When Harry Met Sally… ” in the year 1989. This movie was a career breakthrough for her as she earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role.
She then went on to appear in The Doors, Sleepless in Seattle, When a Man Loves a Woman, I.Q., Lawrence Kasdan’s French Kiss, Courage Under Fire, City of Angels, You’ve Got Mail, and Hurlyburly. Some of these were a hit whereas some were flop as well.
At the start of the 2000s, she appeared in a family comedy-drama about a trio of sisters called ” Hanging Up”. In that same year, she was able to star in the action thriller “Proof of Life” along with Russell Crowe.
However, the movie was not a hit but garnered much reportage in the tabloid press in association with Ryan and Crowe’s affair. She then returned and went on to appear in many other movies and films such as Kate & Leopold, In the Cut, and Against the Ropes.

Meg then went on a three-year hiatus and upon her return, she starred in the 2007 independent film In the Land of Women. She was able to receive a positive response for her performance.
Her first film of the year 2008 was The Deal. This film is based on Peter Lefcourt’s 1991 novel of the same title about Hollywood. Her other appearance after the hiatus is The Women and Serious Moonlight. Both of these movies received mixed emotions from the critics.
Moreover, in the early 2010s, she was attached to several productions. This included the ensemble drama Lives of The Saints opposite Kat Dennings, Kevin Zegers, and John Lithgow, and Long Time Gone, a film adaptation of the April Stevens novel Angel Angel. She also starred in How I Met Your Dad, Fan Girl, The Human Comedy, and Virginia.
