Matt Patricia is an American Football Coach. Matt Patricia first gained wide recognition as a member of the New England Patriots coaching staff. He then was able to serve as the team’s defensive coordinator from 2012 to 2017 and was able to win three Super Bowls with the team.

Matt started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. There, he played college football as an offensive lineman. He was able to play at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) where he was a four-year letterman as a center and guard with the Engineers football team from the year 1992 to 1995. And, when he was in college, he was indicted for sexual assault stemming from an incident during a visit to South Padre Island. However, the case was later dismissed when the alleged victim felt unable to testify.
Matt Patricia was able to remain at RPI to start his coaching career as a graduate assistant in the year 1996. He spent the other two years as an application engineer with Hoffman Air & Filtration Systems in East Syracuse, New York. Finally, after graduating, he received an offer to maintain nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers with the Westinghouse Electric Company. However, Matt decided to return to football as the defensive line coach for Amherst College from 1999 to 2000. And, in the year 2001, he moved to Syracuse University as an offensive graduate assistant for the team, a position he held for three seasons.
Likewise, Matt Patricia was able to join the Patriots under head coach Bill Belichick as an offensive coaching assistant in the year 2004. And, in that same year, the team won its 3rd Super Bowl in Super Bowl XXXIX. Then, in the year 2005, Patricia was reassigned as the Patriots’ assistant offensive line coach. He also became the team’s safeties coach in the year 2011. Then, again in the year 2012, he got a promotion to the title of defensive coordinator.

Moreover, “The Patriots” was able to win three Super Bowls with Matt Patricia: Super Bowl XXXIX at the end of the 2004 season, Super Bowl XLIX at the end of the 2014 season, and Super Bowl LI at the end of the 2016 season. In February 2018, he became the head coach of the Detroit Lions. And, his first win as a head coach came in September 2018 which is a 26–10 victory against his previous team, the New England Patriots, with Patricia beating his old mentor, Bill Belichick, in the process.
Unfortunately, on November 28, 2020, Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn were both fired by the Lions and this came after much criticism about Patricia’s abilities. In January 2021, it was reported that Matt would be returning to the Patriots “in a variety of roles”. Moreover, he is also expected to work on projects as well as be a resource to Belichick.

Sexual Assualt
A 21-year-old woman told police that two men had burst into her hotel room and taken turns violently sexually assaulting her on March 15, 1996. And, Matt and Greg Dietrich were arrested that same night, charged, and released on bond. Then, a Texas grand jury indicted Matt on one count of aggravated sexual assault. It is a felony that can receive a maximum sentence of up to life in prison. The trial started in January of the year 1997. However, the prosecutors were granted their request to dismiss the case after the victim found herself unable “to face the pressures or stress of a trial”.
