On October 7, 2008, Stern’s second album, This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is That, was made available. When it was first released, Pitchfork Media named it “Best New Music” and ranked it No. 44 on “The 50 Best Albums of 2008”.

In support of This Is It, Stern embarked on a European and American tour with former U.S. Maple guitarist Mark Shippy, new bassist Malia James, and a changing cast of drummers.

In support of her self-titled third album, Stern spent the majority of 2010 and 2011 touring North America, Europe, and Australia with the help of bassist Nithin Kalvakota and former Tera Melos drummer Vincent Rogers. Highlights include support dates with the Flaming Lips and several winter festivals in Europe. Les Savy Fav selected her to take the stage at the ATP Nightmare Before Christmas festival that they co-curated in Minehead, England, in December 2011.

Stern was chosen as a voter on a panel of top guitarists and other experts for the Rolling Stone Magazine “100 Greatest Guitarists List” in 2011 and was named one of Elle Magazine’s “12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists”. She was ranked No. 87 on the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list published by Spin Magazine in 2012.

Moreover, her upcoming album, The Chronicles of Marnia, was released on Kill Rock Stars and was announced in December 2012. Likewise, The album’s lead single made its debut the same week on the Spin Magazine website as part of an article about Stern. The Chronicles of Marnia became exclusively available on NPR’s First Listen on March 4, 2013. She was highlighted in the ABC News article 7 Emerging Artists on the Rise during SXSW 2013. Stern later became a regular member of the Late Night House band.
