Mark Harmon was born on September 2, 1951, in Burbank, California, USA. He is 72 years old and is under the astrological sign, Virgo. He holds American nationality and his full name is Thomas Mark Harmon.

Mark Harmon was about to pursue a career in advertising or law. However, he began his career in business as a merchandising director but soon decided to switch to acting. During his acting career, he spent much of his time portraying law enforcement and medical personnel. Also, one of his first national TV appearances was in a commercial for Kellogg’s Product 19 cereal along with his father, Tom Harmon. Finally, he was able to land his first job as an actor in an episode of “Ozzie’s Girls”. After that, he began securing many other acting roles.
Harmon appeared in episodes of Adam-12, Police Woman, and Emergency in mid-1975 and 905-Wild. He even was able to receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. It was for his performance as Robert Dunlap in the TV movie Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years. Mark then went on to appear in three episodes of the mini-series, Centennial.

Likewise, he starred in the prime-time soap opera Flamingo Road, in which he played Fielding Carlisle, and also played the role of Dr. Robert Caldwell on the series St. Elsewhere in the year 1983. Mark Harmon’s role after returning to television regular was as Chicago police detective Dickie Cobb for two seasons from 1991 to 1993 on the NBC series Reasonable Doubts. Then, in the year 1995, he was able to star in the ABC series “Charlie Grace”. He was able to play Secret Service special agent Simon Donovan on The West Wing in a four-episode story arc in the year 2002.
He was very good in this role which helped him to gain his second Emmy Award nomination. In September of that same year, he began starring as Gibbs in the CBS drama NCIS.
