Margaret Qualley is an American actress and model. Margaret Qualley made her acting debut in a supporting part in the drama movie “Palo Alto” in 2013. Qualley then quickly rose to fame for her portrayal of a troubled teenager in the HBO series “The Leftovers” (2014–2017).

Early Life and Education

Sarah Margaret Qualley was born on the 23rd of October, 1994, in Kalispell, Montana. She is the daughter of an actress, a model Andie MacDowell, and a former model Paul Qualley. As of now, she is 29 years old. 

Similarly, Qualley has an older sister named Rainey Qualley and an older brother named Justin Qualley. Qualley’s zodiac sign is Scorpio and she holds American nationality.

When Margaret was four years old, the Qualley siblings left their ranch in Missoula, Montana, and moved to Asheville, North Carolina.

When she was five years old, Qualley’s parents were separated, and she subsequently split her time equally between them. For many years, her parents lived just five kilometers apart.

She left home at 14 to study dance at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Margaret trained as a ballerina, earning an apprenticeship at the American Ballet Theatre and studying at New York’s Professional Children’s School.

At the age of 16, Margaret decided to quit dance following an offer to become an apprentice with the North Carolina Dance Theater Company. To stay in New York, she started working as a model.

Qualley later changed her focus to acting and attended the summer program at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Qualley attended New York University but left to pursue acting roles after a semester.

Personal Life

As of 2022, Qualley is engaged to musician Jack Antonoff. However, before Jack Antonoff, she was in a two-year relationship with actor and songwriter Nat Wolff.

Nat Wolff has appeared in films such as “Paper Towns” and “The Fault in Our Stars.” Their relationship ended in 2014, but they reunited in 2017 to appear in the Netflix series “Death Note”.

After co-starring in a music video made by Rainey “Love Me Like You Hate Me,” she began dating actor Shia LaBeouf. Their relationship ended in January 2021 due to controversies surrounding LaBeouf.

Career and Professional Life

Qualley made her modeling debut in 20211, at the age of 16 during New York Fashion Week, walking for Alberta Ferretti. She modeled during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 for Valentino and Chanel.

Qualley appeared in Steven Meisel’s Ralph Lauren Fall/Winter 2016 print campaign. Qualley is a Chanel house ambassador. In Qualley’s acting career, she first appeared on screen in 2013 playing a small part in Gia Coppola’s film “Palo Alto”.

She got the part because she was on set visiting her then-boyfriend, Nat Wolff. Likewise, Qualley was also cast as a series regular in the HBO television series “The Leftovers” in June 2013.

Qualley then appeared in Shane Black’s 2016 comedy “The Nice Guys. Moreover, Qualley also starred in “Death Note”, directed by Adam Wingard, which was released in the same year. 

She also appeared in “Donnybrook”, directed by Tim Sutton and co-starring Jamie Bell and Frank Grillo, in 2018.

In 2019, Qualley appeared in the Netflix science-fiction film IO Jonathan Helpert directed the film, which was released on January 18, 2019. She portrayed Sam Walden in the film.

In 2020, Qualley appeared in “Wake Up”, a short film directed by Olivia Wilde. Similarly, she starred in “My Salinger Year”, a feature directed by Philippe Falardeau, which had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2020.

Furthermore, Qualley starred in the miniseries “Maid” in 2021 which was based on Stephanie Land’s memoir for Netflix.
