Early Life and Education

College Career
Wiley was a Lions kick returner, defensive end, and tailback at Columbia University. In his first two seasons, he played running back. In his senior year, he switched to defensive end and finished the season with 63 tackles (17 for loss), 6.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, and three blocked field goals. He served as team captain and guided the Lions to their most successful season (an 8-2) since 1945. Wiley earned first-team All-Ivy League and All-American honors and earned a sociology degree from Columbia in 1997.
Professional Career
The Buffalo Bills selected him out of Columbia University with the 52nd overall choice in the second round of the 1997 NFL Draft. Wiley spent the first three years of his professional career primarily as a situational pass rusher, accumulating nine sacks. He missed the preseason in 2000 after undergoing disc repair surgery.
Wiley, a defensive end with the Bills, took over when Hall of Famer Bruce Smith left for the Washington Redskins and made the roster for the season’s first game. As a Charger, he was chosen for the 2001 AFC Pro Bowl team.
Post NFL Career

Wiley was a replacement co-host for Mike and Mike in the Morning and worked for ESPN’s NFL Live. He co-hosted SportsNation as well. From 2010 to 2012, Wiley and Michelle Beadle co-hosted the Winners Bracket. Later, from 2013 to 2018, he co-hosted multiple editions of LA’s afternoon radio show, including “Max and Marcellus,” “Afternoons with Marcellus and Kelvin,” and “Afternoons on ESPNLA with Marcellus Wiley and Travis Rogers” on ESPN LA.
He replaced Colin Cowherd as the full-time co-host of SportsNation in January 2013. When Jason Whitlock’s contract with Fox Sports was not renewed in June 2020, Wiley resigned from his role as co-host of Speak for Yourself on ESPN and joined FS1 on July 13, 2018. Emmanuel Acho took Whitlock’s place and joined Wiley as the new co-host. In July 2022, Wiley resigned as the host of Speak For Yourself to take on a new position at FS1. Never Shut Up: The Life, Opinions, and Unexpected Adventures of an NFL Outsider, written by Wiley, was published in 2018.
