Manuel Neuer started playing professional football for Schalke 04 II during 2003–04, 2004–05, 2006–07, 2007–08, and 2008–09. He began playing for Schalke 04’s youth team at the age of five. On August 19, 2006, he played his first Bundesliga match. Because he was so good, he displaced Frank Rost as Schalke’s number one.
