In the early 1980s, Lisa Emery did stage work for a couple of years. Later, in 1983, she made her Broadway debut in Passion, which was directed by Marshall W. Mason. She made her first television appearance in the horror movie ‘Dreamaniac’ which was directed by David DeCoteau.
Again in 1987, she appeared in her second Broadway appearance in ‘Burn This,’ in which she portrayed the role of Anna Mann. She did her second film role as Nancy in the 1990 film, ‘How to be Louise’ and the movie is about a woman’s journey to find her self-identity.
In 1991, she was cast in an American play “Marvin’s Room” portraying the role of Lee. Later in the year 1992, she took another big leap with an appearance in the 2002 movie ‘Wolf’ starring Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.
That same year, she made another movie appearance in Roger Dodge. Her other movie credits are People I Know (2002) The Night Listener (2006), Cold Souls (2009), and Admission (2013).
Having appeared in several hit big-screen movies, she has also appeared in television shows and series. She made her first appearance in the 1991 television series, Law & Order.
And, she was featured in the show in 1994, 2000, and 2009 and also appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2002 and 2005. Later, she went on to appear in television shows like Damages (2007), Fringe (2008), Louie (2011), and Elementary (2015).

In 2017, her role as Darlene Snell on the Netflix series ‘Ozark’ was her most well-noticed role. Her recent appearance was in the television show ‘The Sinner’ which was renewed for the third season in 2020.
