Talking about his educational journey, he enrolled at Joongbu University in the year 2005 and he majored in media and broadcasting arts.

The Beginning

Lee Dong-wook had his acting debut with the 1999 KBS2 drama Sunday Best “Coaching” and MBC drama Best Theater “There’s a World Outside of the Road” playing the role of Lee Sung-Joon.

The latter is a single-episode drama. He bagged the role after winning the grand prize in the V-NESS model contest the same year.

The PD proceeded to cast him in the teen drama School 2 which aired from 1999–2000 on KBS1. In this drama, he played the role of Lee Kang-san. He then started gaining fame and recognition with his performance in School 3.

Moreover, he rose to stardom with My Girl. It is a 2005 romantic comedy that became a hit during its run both domestically and across Asia. This eventually made him a Korean Wave star.

Since then, he has appeared in a total of 40 TV dramas and 5 films.

The five films that he starred in are Arang in 2006 as Lee Hyun-ki; The Perfect Couple in 2007 as Kang Jae-hyuk; Heartbreak Library in 2008 as Kim Joon-oh; The Recipe in 2010 as Kim Hyun-soo; and The Beauty Inside in 2015 as Kim Woo-jin.

Moreover, he also appeared in the noir Bitter Sweet Life, courtroom dramedy Partner, melodrama Scent of a Woman, baseball rom-com Wild Romance, period thriller The Fugitive of Joseon, and revenge drama Hotel King.

Then in 2018, Lee Dong-wook starred in the medical drama Life. His role in this drama is that of a doctor who works in the ER Department.

Later in 2019, he starred in the romance comedy drama Touch Your Heart alongside his costar from Goblin Yoo In-na. For this drama, he played the role of a workaholic lawyer.

The same year, he became the host of Produce X101. It is the fourth season of the popular survival audition program Produce 101.

Following this, he starred in the thriller drama Hell Is Other People as a dentist and also hosted his talk show called Wook Talk. He hosted his talk show to celebrate his 20th anniversary since his debut as an actor.

At the time of writing this biography (November 2020), he is playing the role of Lee Yeon in the fantasy drama Tale of the Nine-Tailed. Lee Yeon is a nine-tailed fox, a former mountain spirit, and guardian of Baekdudaegan.
