Later, he enrolled at the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music. Later, he relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, after leaving Rochester. In 1991, he enrolled in the Yale School of Drama.

Lance Reddick made his small screen debut in a season two episode of “New York Undercover” in 1996. The next year, he was cast in the telefilm “What the Deaf Man Heard.” in 1998, he made his big-screen debut as Anton Le Farge in Alfonso Cuarón’s film “Great Expectations.” The film was based on Charles Dickens’s 1861 novel of the same name.

That same year, in the monster film “Godzilla,” he played an uncredited soldier. He appeared in the 1998 action thriller “The Siege,” which revolves around the clandestine kidnapping of a terror suspect in the United States and the subsequent series of terror attacks in the United States.

In addition to Reddick, the film featured Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis, and Annette Bening. The following year in 2000, he was cast as Detective Willis Simms on the short-lived CBS crime drama series “Falcone.” He was cast in the adventure romance “I Dreamed of Africa” that year.

Other television and movie works

In the HBO drama series “Oz,” he played Johnny Basil, a.k.a. Desmond “Zil” Mobay, an undercover narcotics officer with the false identity of a Jamaican drug addict, between 2000 and 2001. He also appeared in six episodes of NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” as the recurring character Dr Taylor. Moreover, he played the role of Cedric Daniels in “The Wire” (2002–2008).

In ABC’s suspense drama series “Lost” (2008-09), he portrayed the mysterious Matthew Abaddon. Later, he was cast in the films ‘Won’t Back Down” (2012) and “White House Down” (2013). He played Major Carver in the critically acclaimed thriller film “The Guest” in 2014. In the first John Wick film, he played Charon for the first time.

He starred as the evil CEO Christian DeVille in Comedy Central’s “Corporate” (2018-2020) and as LAPD Chief Irvin Irving in Amazon Studio’s police procedural drama “Bosch” (2014-2021). “Angel Has Fallen” (2019), “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021), and “John Wick: Chapter 4” (2023) are among his recent movie appearances.

Reddick’s debut album ‘Contemplations & Remembrances’ was released on September 10, 2007, by Christie Productions. ‘Walking,’ ‘Time to Say Goodbye,’ ‘Woman in Black,’ ‘Hey John,’ ‘Voices,’ ‘Work of Art,’ ‘Our Journey,’ ‘Tick Tock,’ and ‘Remembering’ are among the nine classical tracks on the album.
