At the age of six, Kevin Zegers began his performing career, appearing in about 30 TV commercials. When he was just seven years old, he made his film debut in the Michael J. Fox 1993 comedy film “Life with Mikey” playing a younger version of Fox’s character.
Following that, he made a guest appearance on the acclaimed science fiction series “The X-Files” in 1995, playing a stigmatic child of Kevin Kryder.
He then played the recurring role of Sean Blake in the TV series “Traders” appearing in a total of seven episodes from 1996 to 1997. During this period, he appeared in many made-for-television films, including “Thicker Than Blood: The Larry McLinden Story” (1994), “The Silence of Adultery” (1995), and “Rose Hill” (1997),.
Boosted his acting career with the movie “Air Bud”
The actor went on to play Noah Thompson in the ‘Let’s Get Invisible!’ episode of “Goosebumps.” His role as Josh Framm in the sports comedy film “Air Bud” (1997) boosted his acting career.
The movie is about a lonely boy who befriends a basketball-playing dog. Zegers appeared in all four sequels of “Air Bud.” He also appeared in a film named “MVP: Most Valuable Primate” (2000), which featured a hockey-playing chimp.
During the late 1990s, he appeared in films such as “A Call To Remember” (1997), “Nico the Unicorn” (1998), “Treasure Island” (1999), and “Time Share” (2000). He portrayed the role of Ryan Ollman, a boy who discovers he is a clone in the TV series “So Weird” (1999).

He co-starred with Harry Hamlin in “Sex, Lies & Obsession” (2001), a Lifetime Network film about sex addiction, and with Gena Rowlands and James Caan in “The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie” (2003), a television film drama that won three Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Children/Youth/Family Special, Outstanding Performer (Rowlands), and Outstanding Writing. Between 2003 to 2004, he appeared in two TV series “Smallville” and “House.”
He was cast in the Academy Award-nominated independent film “Transamerica,” in 2005. In the movie, he played the major role of Toby Wilkins, co-starring Felicity Huffman. During the same period, he appeared with Shailene Woodley in the television film “Felicity: An American Girl Adventure.”
In 2006, he played supervillain Concussion in the comedy “Zoom” starring with Tim Allen. The same year, he had the lead role opposite Samaire Armstrong in the romantic comedy “It’s a Boy Girl Thing.”

From 2009 to 2010, he guest-starred as Damien Dalgaard in the TV series “Gossip Girl.” In late 2010, he reprised the role for multiple episodes throughout season 4 of this TV series. He played the male protagonist Mark Muir in the television series “Titanic: Blood and Steel.”
He played Alec Lightwood in “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” (2013). Moreover, he joined “Fear the Walking Dead” for its fourth season, where he played the role of Melvin.
In 2019, he appeared in the reality show “Hell’s Kitchen” and also appeared in the parody TV series “What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage.” He played the main role of Brendon Arces in the police procedural crime TV series “The Rookie: Feds” from 2022 to 2023.
