Early Life

Wooten, a four-star recruit, signed a national letter of intent to play college basketball at Nevada before requesting to be released from his commitment to re-open his recruiting due to coaching changes at the school.

He then transferred to Trinity International School in Las Vegas, Nevada, for a postgraduate year to reclassify for the 2017 class. Wooten de-committed from Arizona State and accepted a scholarship to play at Oregon after initially committing to Arizona State.

College Career

Wooten played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks at the University of Oregon. He gained recognition for his shot-blocking ability and athleticism during his time there. He played for the Ducks during the 2017-2019 seasons.

On December 8, 2018, he set a career high with 20 points in an 84-61 win over Omaha. Following the season’s conclusion, Wooten announced that he would forego his final two seasons of NCAA eligibility to enter the 2019 NBA draft. He left Oregon as the Ducks’ third all-time leading shot blocker despite only playing two seasons.

Professional Career

Kenny Wooten joined the New York Knicks for the 2019 NBA Summer League after going undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft, and the Knicks signed him to an Exhibit 10 contract on July 20, 2019. On October 19, 2019, the Knicks released Wooten and he joined the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. Meanwhile, he signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Knicks on January 14, 2020.

He did not play a game for the Knicks in the 2019-20 season, however, due to a thumb injury that necessitated surgery in late February 2020. For Westchester, he averaged 7.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks per game while shooting 65.1% from the field. Wooten was released by the Knicks on November 19, 2020.

He was assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets’ G League affiliate, where he averaged 6.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. Moreover, he signed with Filou Oostende of the BNXT League on April 10, 2021.

Additionally, he signed with Ironi Ness Ziona of the Israeli Basketball Super League (IBSL) on August 22, 2021. He was, however, let go on September 16. Moreover, he signed with the Maine Celtics on October 23. Further, he was waived on February 6, 2022, after suffering a season-ending injury.

Wooten was traded from the Maine Celtics to the Raptors 905 on October 15, 2022. He signed with the Raptors 905 of the G League on October 17, 2022. His contract was terminated on January 17, 2023. Moreover, he was acquired by the Salt Lake City Stars on January 27, 2023, but was waived four days later before playing for Salt Lake.
