Finney joined Media Matters for America as a senior fellow and consultant on November 25, 2014. CNN announced on April 6, 2015, that Finney had been named Strategic Communications Adviser and Senior Spokesperson for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. She made her CNN political commentator debut on January 6, 2019.
