Competitive runner Julia Pernsteiner was reportedly scouted as a transfer student by Jacksonville University coach Ronald Grigg and ran for the school’s track team. According to the lawsuit, the university provided Pernsteiner with an appealing recruitment proposal that claimed she would be qualified for academic accommodations for her disability under the university’s 504 plan.
Competitive runner Pernsteiner was reportedly scouted as a transfer student by Jacksonville University coach Ronald Grigg and ran for the school’s track team.
However, it is claimed that the student started to struggle academically as a result of the university’s inability to carry out the accommodations that were promised to her.
The other team members agreed with the lawsuit’s assertion that Grigg took immense delight in tormenting Pernsteiner because of her disability.
Moreover, Pernsteiner had a learning disability for which she was cruelly scorned by the University’s track and field coach Grigg. When Grigg was Julia’s coach, he would call her “fat” and “retarded” before expelling her from the team suddenly.
On February 3, 2023, Julia’s parents sued Jacksonville University because staff members ignored their requests for assistance. Ron would say things like, “Why do I keep you around if you’re not smart and you’re not fast?” adding, “Go kill yourself. You’re awful,” reported Daily Mail.
After getting several complaints concerning his behavior towards female athletes, university coach Ronald Grigg reportedly resigned in June 2022.
