Jordan North is a British radio DJ and television presenter. Jordan North is widely recognized for hosting shows on BBC Radio 1. He is also the runner-up of the “twentieth series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” in 2020.

Early Life

Jordan North opened his eyes to the world on the 14th of February 1990, in York, North Yorkshire, England. Talking about his academic qualification, he studied at St. James’ Lanehead Primary School and was later transferred to Penwortham Priory Academy. Later, he enrolled at Preston’s College. He earned a Bachelor in Arts- Media Production from the University of Sunderland.

Professional Career

During his time at the university year, Jordan North used to work at Spark FM. Moreover, during his final year of university, he entered a Bauer Radio talent competition and won a Sunday show on The Hits Radio. He has also worked at Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s in-house radio station and community station Preston FM.

In addition, he worked as a researcher and producer at BBC Radio 5 Live after leaving Spark and graduating from university. He began presenting shows on Capital Manchester after recording a “pilot” show for Capital North East. He then spent 18 months working part-time at Rock FM before leaving the BBC in May 2014 to become the Lancashire station’s drive-time presenter.

After appearing as a freelance cover presenter in several BBC Radio 1 shows since 2014, he was one of several new voices chosen to stand in for Matt Edmondson in September 2017, and he was announced as the new host of the station’s Greatest Hits show on Sunday mornings in early 2018.

In September 2020, he was announced as the new regular 11 am-1 pm weekend host on BBC Radio 1. He was also the main cover presenter for Scott Mills and Nick Grimshaw, occasionally known as Radio 1’s “supply teacher.”

Recent Career

Since March 2018, North has co-presented the comedy agony-aunt podcast Help I Sexted My Boss with friend and etiquette expert William Hanson. The show aims to offer advice to listeners who have encountered modern-day problems. The podcast is currently in its ninth series.

He appeared as a guest mentor on the children’s singing competition Got What It Takes? on February 5, 2020, during the program’s annual Radio 1 interview challenge. Moreover, he was announced as a contestant on the twentieth season of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in November 2020.

On December 4, 2020, he finished second, and Giovanna Fletcher was crowned Queen of the Castle. Meanwhile, he has co-hosted the BBC Radio 1 drivetime show with Vick Hope since September 6, 2021, succeeding Nick Grimshaw. Northco hosted the Christmas and New Year editions of Top of the Pops with Clara Amfo in 2021, replacing Fearne Cotton.

He appeared on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in February 2022, surprising someone who lives with a “Gift on the Shift” in which they won a “Takeaway Getaway” during the “Happiest Minute Of The Week” segment.
