On September 17, 1948, Jonathan Southworth Ritter aka John Ritter was born in Burbank, California, United States. In addition, he was born to his father Tex Ritter, and his mother Dorothy Fay. His father is famous as a singing cowboy star. Similarly, his mother was an actress.

He also had an older brother Thomas Matthews. Along with his brother, he was raised in Burbank, California. Regarding his education, he went to Hollywood High School.

From October 1972 to December 1976, he was seen playing the role of ‘Reverend Matthew Fordwick’. He played the role for 18 episodes of ‘The Waltons’.
