Joey Gallo is an American Professional Baseball Outfielder. Joey Gallo was the first baseman for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was also the first as well as the third baseman and outfielder who was named MVP of the All-Star Futures Game in the year 2014. Career and Professional Life

Joey Gallo was selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round, with the 39th overall selection, in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. So, rather than enrolling at LSU, he went on to sign with the Rangers for a $2.25 million signing bonus.

Gallo began his professional career with the Arizona League Rangers. He set a record with 18 home runs and was named the Arizona League MVP. He then was able to continue his success with the Spokane Indians in the Class A Short-Season Northwest League.

Likewise, before the 2013 season, he was considered one of the Rangers’ top prospects. He went on to have an incredible season with the Hickory Crawdads, leading the league with 38 home runs.

He even was able to become the first teenager in over 50 years to hit 40 home runs in a minor league season. And, during the offseason, he trained along with Troy Tulowitzki and Jason Giambi.

In the year 2014, he had an amazing season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He became the Carolina League MVP and was able to earn All-Star honors.

Later, he was promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders and continued to excel, earning more All-Star accolades. Due to his talent, he even became the MVP of the All-Star Futures Game.

The Rangers called up Joey Gallo to the majors on June 1, 2015. And, in his first game, he made history as the first Ranger to achieve that in their MLB debut. But, he didn’t spend much time in the majors, only playing in 17 games for the Rangers in the year 2016.

The next year, he was able to earn a spot on the major league roster and showed his versatility by playing multiple positions throughout the season. Also, had the honor of hitting the third-longest home run in MLB that year.

Moreover, Joey became the AL Player of the Week for his impressive performance in April of the year 2019. He was able to reach a major milestone, hitting his 100th career home run against the Pirates, and became the fastest player in American League history to achieve this feat. He even was selected as an American League reserve outfielder for the 2019 All-Star Game.

Gallow was able to make history by hitting the first home run at the Rangers’ new stadium, Globe Life Field. At the end of the season, he even was able to receive the well-deserved AL Gold Glove Award as a right fielder. He also was selected for the 2021 MLB All-Star Game and drew a walk in his only plate appearance.

The Rangers went on to trade Gallo and Joely Rodríguez to the Yankees for Josh Smith, Glenn Otto, Trevor Hauver, and Ezequiel Durán in July 2021.

Then, in August 2022, the Los Angeles Dodgers traded him in exchange for Clayton Beeter. In December of the year 2022, Joey went on to sign a one-year contract with the Minnesota Twins.
